Obstacle

The Tysons Community Alliance was established in 2023 as a nonprofit organization out of Tysons, Virginia that helps elevate the community and bring awareness to the success and growth of the area. As a new organization, they needed a strategic communications plan to use as the foundation of the communications department.  In conjunction with a strategic communications plan, they needed a team and leader to lay the groundwork for the organizations' branding, marketing, messaging, and events.

Approach

After developing a strategic plan tailored to the needs of the organization, KGL led public relations and communications efforts. This included developing consistent messaging, securing media coverage, and coordinating closely with stakeholders, partners, and local businesses to amplify impact. Our team led integrated marketing campaigns to position Tysons as a vibrant, connected destination, combining digital strategies with traditional outreach to maximize reach and engagement. We designed and executed a robust events and activation program that helped define Tysons’ identity, including the launch of signature events such as the Mixed Market and Copa Tysons driving foot traffic, supporting local businesses, and creating high-impact community experiences. KGL developed and launched an innovative economic development tool to support local businesses that enabled seamless, secure, and mobile-friendly transactions.

Results

Our strategies brought recognition and an established identity to the Tysons Community Alliance. The organization saw consistent growth in website traffic, and social media following and overall engagement. The established events have remained year after year growing in both attendance and reach. The community engagement program has grown to over 200 members.
